The last few weeks I have been working on finishing off my Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) certification. I have been working towards this certification since the start of university. I choose to go the long route and obtained the Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) along the way. This Wednesday I passed my final exam and finally obtained MCSA status.

The last couple of days I have been training in Acronis Backup and Recovery 10. It is a fantastic product which has features similar to that of Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery, a product which I already cover. Acronis do however have some advantages over Symantec when it comes to deduplication. Symantec have only included this in the Backup Exec at the time of writing and not in there Backup Exec System Recovery product. It also required a 64bit OS where as Acronis don't seem to have this sort of limitation. Obviously the the deduplication does require some powerful hardware as it is processor intensive.

Hey all,

Its been mad the last few week with work and trying to manage some of my personal systems.

I got notified a few weeks ago that my hosting provider was shutting down and that we would have to find a new one by the end of January. This didn't leave very much time to get things organised. My reseller found a web host very quickly but over the last week we had to do a very quick move of all the websites, and mailboxes which we were responsible for with minimum down time. ChrisColden.net was a guinea pig in all the mayhem and I am pleased to say that everything went fairly smoothly as far as the migration was concerned.
